Freezer and cold room strip curtains provide an effective thermal barrier between refrigerated storage areas and ambient temperature zones, significantly reducing energy consumption while maintaining compliant cold chain temperatures. Manufactured from low-temperature polar-grade PVC that remains flexible down to -25°C, our freezer curtains are designed for high-traffic commercial and industrial cold rooms where standard PVC would become brittle, crack, and fail prematurely.
Maintaining a consistent temperature in commercial refrigeration is not just a matter of energy efficiency — it is a legal requirement under UK and EU food safety regulations. Every time a cold room door is opened without an adequate thermal barrier in place, warm ambient air rushes in, raising the stored temperature and placing cold chain compliance at risk. PVC strip curtains dramatically reduce this temperature exchange, allowing continuous staff and equipment access while minimising the thermal load on refrigeration plant.
Key Benefits of Cold Room & Freezer Strip Curtains
Polar Grade PVC – remains fully flexible at temperatures as low as -25°C, preventing cracking and brittle failure
Energy Savings – reduces cold air loss at doorways, lowering refrigeration energy costs and carbon footprint
Cold Chain Compliance – maintains consistent internal temperatures to support HACCP and food safety requirements
Condensation & Frost Control – limits warm, moist air ingress that causes frost build-up on evaporator coils
Continuous Access – staff and forklifts pass through freely without the delay of opening and closing insulated doors
Easy to Clean – smooth PVC surface supports washdown hygiene routines standard in food storage facilities
Our cold room and freezer PVC strip curtains are available in a range of widths and thicknesses to suit walk-in chillers, blast freezers, refrigerated loading docks, and cold store doorways.

Every time a cold store door opens, chilled air pours out. Cold room curtains and fridge curtains made from polar grade PVC create a flexible thermal barrier that stays soft and clear down to -30°C, cutting energy loss, frost build-up and compressor run time on walk-in fridges, chillers, freezer rooms and refrigerated loading docks.
What is the difference between cold room and freezer strip curtains?
Standard PVC stiffens below about 0°C, so freezer curtains and walk-in freezer strips use polar (low-temperature) PVC with a ribbed or smooth finish. For chillers running at 0–5°C, a 200mm x 2mm polar strip is ideal; busy freezer doors with pallet traffic suit 300mm x 3mm strips with a higher overlap.
How do I measure a fridge or cold room doorway?
Measure the clear opening width and height, then add 50–100mm each side for overlap. Our sizing guide explains strip widths and overlaps, or choose made to measure kits cut to your door.
