Noise Reduction PVC Strip Curtains
Noise reduction PVC strip curtains provide a practical, cost-effective acoustic barrier for industrial, commercial, and manufacturing environments where excessive noise levels pose a health and safety risk or cause operational disruption. While no flexible PVC curtain matches the acoustic performance of a solid wall or specialist acoustic panel, heavy-duty PVC strip curtains can achieve meaningful reductions in transmitted noise — typically in the range of 5–10 dB — making them a valuable first-line control measure in noisy workplaces.
The noise attenuating properties of PVC strip curtains are primarily determined by the thickness and mass of the material. Our noise reduction curtains use thicker PVC grades (3mm or 4mm) which absorb and deflect more sound energy than standard 2mm strips. Increasing the overlap between adjacent strips also improves acoustic performance by eliminating gaps through which sound can travel freely.
Where Noise Reduction Strip Curtains Are Used
- Manufacturing & Production Areas – separate noisy machining or assembly areas from quieter office or packing zones
- Woodworking & Metal Fabrication Shops – reduce transmitted noise at workshop doorways
- Printing & Packaging Facilities – create acoustic separation between press rooms and despatch areas
- Warehouses with Automated Equipment – reduce noise from conveyors, pickers, and automated handling systems
- Entertainment & Events Venues – temporary acoustic separation between areas
For compliance with the Control of Noise at Work Regulations 2005, PVC strip curtains should be considered as part of a wider noise control strategy alongside engineering controls and PPE where required. Our technical team can advise on the most suitable specification for your environment.
