Twin Track PVC Strip Curtain Rails — Double Rail System for Maximum Thermal Performance
Twin track rails mount two parallel curtains on a single overhead bracket, creating a double-layer barrier that dramatically outperforms single-curtain systems for thermal insulation. The industry standard for deep freeze, blast freezer, and high-access cold room applications. Available in aluminium for food-safe and industrial environments.
Twin Track System Advantages
| Feature | Single Rail | Twin Track Rail |
|---|---|---|
| Air exchange reduction | ~70% | ~85% |
| Oversized load access | Full curtain must open | One curtain retracts |
| Strip damage tolerance | Gap until repaired | Second curtain maintains seal |
| Energy saving | Good | Maximum |
| Cost | Lower | Higher initial, lower running cost |
How wide are twin track rails?
Twin track rail brackets are typically 200 to 250mm deep (front to back) to accommodate two parallel curtain positions. The rail is mounted above the door opening on the face, underside, or behind the header as required. Ensure you have sufficient overhead and depth clearance for the bracket profile before ordering. Contact us with your door header dimensions if you are unsure whether twin track will fit your opening.
What strip grade should I use with twin track rails in a freezer?
Always use polar-grade PVC strips with twin track rails in freezer environments. For standard cold rooms (-2C to -18C), polar grade to -25C is sufficient. For blast freezers and deep freeze storage (-18C to -35C), specify deep freeze grade rated to -40C. Using standard PVC in a twin track freezer installation is a common mistake — the strips will stiffen and lose effectiveness within weeks regardless of having two curtain layers.
